Large sunny room with ensuite in Dalston (E8)

A large double room on the 1st floor of our welcoming period house. Private ensuite toilet sink and shower room. The room comes furnished with a queensize double bed with orthopaedic mattress and chest of drawers only, but these can be swapped out if you have your own bed, and there's space for extra furniture you'd like to bring. Since these photos were taken the room has been painted a lovely shade of yellow.

Shared open plan kitchen and lounge including dishwasher, washing machine, TV. There's a small 3x4m roof terrace with barbecue, and space to keep your bike in the downstairs entrance hall.

You'd be sharing the house with us, a friendly, laid-back and considerate working couple in our thirties, with our rooms on the floor above. We are a carpenter and a manager in a charity, and we normally get up early for work, so our weekday evenings are pretty quiet (although we don't mind if yours aren't) and our weekends are livelier.

We'd like to live with someone who is easy-going and sociable. One of us smokes, but only on the roof terrace, and we're happy to live with a smoker as long as the smoking happens mainly outside.

We also have a dog, Lyra. She is a 2 year old Belgian Shepherd, sweet, friendly and quiet. She often stays home during the weekdays, with a lunch-time walk, and has her bed in the lounge. So you must like dogs to live here!

Lyra gets on well with other dogs, so if you have one that is smallish, then we may consider this - providing the two dogs get on well together and our landlord agrees to the second dog moving in.

Dalston is well connected - Dalston Junction and Dalston Kingsland are two short stops from Highbury and Islington, and we're in easy reach of Stoke Newington, Angel, Kings Cross, Stratford and Old Street. Hackney Downs station is also close by, where you can get a train straight to Liverpool Street. We're close to nice cafes, restaurants and bars, and 10 minutes from London Fields Lido, a heated open air all-year-round pool.

We're ideally looking for one person, but might consider couples (the rent would be 750 for a couple).
