Bright Single Room in Large Victorian Townhouse

Bright single bedroom with own small tv available from 10 May for Mon - Fri let in our gorgeous, large family home with beautiful garden in Hanwell (W7). Perfect for a considerate, non-smoking male or female. Mon-Fri let preferable although a 7 day per week let will be considered at a slightly higher rental.

The room would ideally suit a professional who is out of the house for most of the day and happy to keep things quiet and to themselves when they are home. In return you’ll have a bright and freshly decorated bedroom that's cleaned weekly in a big, well-maintained, clean and (generally!) tidy house. We're happy to consider short lets with a minimum of 1 month and can also supply linen and arrange for weekly clean linen at a small additional rental.

The room has a comfortable single bed, bedside table, huge floor to ceiling wardrobe, 2 chests of drawers, and its own small TV for those times when you’d just like some time out by yourself. It also has a (fabulously comfortable) rocking chair in it which is sort of out of place, but perhaps just adds to the character of the room! The photo of the room on the profile shows a filing cabinet which we have since moved out of the room to add a bit more space.

Being on the top (2nd) floor of the house it is peaceful and has a lovely view over the rooftops of Hanwell and it gets sunshine in the morning. You would have shared use of the modern shower-room on this floor, sharing with our au pair (21 - Italian) and another Mon - Fri lodger called Pete (44 - British). As it's a family home, our one request is that the room and our house is for your single occupancy only – this means no overnight visitors please!

Although there is no on-site parking there are no parking restrictions on our road, so you can easily park close to the house.

We did a huge renovation to our house a couple of years ago and so everything feels new and modern. It is double-glazed with central heating throughout. In total there are 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a downstairs cloakroom, a beautiful through-flow lounge and dining room with wooden floors, a high-spec modern kitchen (with American-style fridge freezer, range cooker, dishwasher) leading out onto a large deck overlooking our sunny south-facing 60ft garden.

You would be sharing with a young family, our au pair as mentioned above and another lodger - I am South African (31), my husband is British-Italian (39) and we have an gorgeous 2 and a half year old little boy. He goes to nursery for 3 days a week whilst I am at work, and is otherwise at home with me during the days inbetween. You will need to be comfortable and tolerant of having a child around the house - life isn't always as tidy during the day as we would like, but we always make sure that all's neat and clean by the end of the day. He’s in bed by 8pm though so we normally have evenings to ourselves.

We are extremely considerate but also sociable, enjoying days/evenings out or in, travelling, cooking, the theatre, day-trips exploring the countryside or English Heritage sites and going for walks along the river and the parks. We tend to spend our evenings fairly quietly (too tired after work and childcare!), watching tv, cooking and putting our feet up. We'd like to share with someone similar, and someone who is more or less happy to keep to themselves.

We are only a couple of minutes’ walk from Hanwell train station, so access to central London (Paddington, 12 minutes) and Heathrow airport (15 minutes) are extremely convenient. The house is also a short bus ride to Ealing Broadway, Boston Manor and Northfields for the local underground stations (Central, District and Piccadilly lines) and is also a few minutes’ walk from a number of large parks and the river for picnics, riverside walks and bike rides. There are local grocers, restaurants and shops a few hundred metres away and also a golf course and tennis courts very nearby.

We are looking for someone who is friendly and easy to get along with, but also importantly, considerate, happy to keep evenings quiet and happy to tidy up after yourself. The rent is £275/month for a Mon - Fri rental and comes with bills included and use of broadband, washing machine, tumble dryer, TV, etc. A cleaner comes every week as we like to keep things clean and tidy, and cleaning of your bedroom will be included.
