Lovely room in tranquil flat, short - medium-term

Ad ref# 3661401

I am looking for someone to share my lovely Sydenham flat with me, and my cat Romeo, for one- five months.

Built in 1900, the flat has high ceilings, leaded windows and lots of light. In addition to a 3/4 sized bed, the room has a desk and bookshelves (including some of my books, but these could be moved).

The flat includes a large living/dining room, an eat-in kitchen which opens onto a private patio, and a huge shared garden with shed for bike storage etc.

I work at Goldsmiths, University as London, as a lecturer in the art department. A few days a week I work from home preparing classes, writing and editing.

The room would be ideal for a visiting artist, scholar or graduate student, or for something moving to London and wanting to get a foothold. I can provide towels and bed linens. The kitchen is well-stocked with crockery and culinary equipment.

Storage in the bedroom is a bit minimal (chest of drawers and a small wardrobe).

The flat has a dishwasher and washing machine (no drier, though).

Parking on the street is available, with no need for a permit.

I'm looking for someone on my wavelength, so ideally interested in art/culture/politics, and with a queer/feminist sensibility or at least sympathy! I love to cook and crack open a bottle of red, or occasionally mix my own cocktails (negronis are my current tipple of choice).

The flat is incredibly peaceful ... the epitome of leafy. It's 10 mins to Sydenham for the Overground, Zone 3, and 12 mins walk to Penge East for the mainline to Victoria (15 mins) via Brixton.

My boyfriend, who is a smoker, visits once or twice a week and smokes on the porch. The flat itself is non-smoking.

Sydenham has an almost villagey feel with a laid-back, friendly vibe. There are handy shops nearby and a few nice places to eat (including killer Nepalese restaurant and family-run Italian trattoria). Forest Hill and Crystal Palace, the next 'villages', have great pubs and restaurants. And you can easily get up to East London on the Overground or into the centre on various mainline trains and buses, so finding the hipster scene is not a problem.

Wifi and all bills included.

I am looking for someone to share my home, not just a 'lodger.' So of course you would be welcome to have friends to visit for meals or overnight.

Sorry, however, no couples.
