Small double room in beautiful Victorian house
Hello.
I live by myself in a two bed Victorian terrace at the bottom of Sydenham's high street, just near the library. I'm looking for a lodger, to share my home and help with bills.
I'm an actor and a writer, and like most people who work as such, sometimes I go and temp. I work a lot from home though, so ideally I'm looking for someone who'd be out during the day.
Let's get a big red flag out of the way: I'm a smoker. Not a heavy one, but come the evening I tend to sit down and watch TV with a glass of wine, and will typically smoke about 5 cigarettes in my lounge (I Febreze like mad afterwards). I understand this will instantly put many people off, so if that's you then stop reading now - if not then continue! I am, however, frequently told that the house does not smell of smoke at all.
The room on offer has a double bed that is very comfortable (happy to provide bed linen and towels), it is newly decorated and had brand new carpet put in last year. It has two little drawers for clothes space, a wardrobe, and a computer desk cum bedside table.
It's light and bright with a chandelier light-fitting. It looks down on to the garden, and there are some bookshelves.
All bills are included, plus high speed wi-fi. The lounge is very comfortable, with a dining table to eat at and two sofas to relax on. There is Netflix available through the main TV, plus various catch-up services and a couple of games consoles.
The bathroom is spacious and has a bath and shower. The kitchen has a gas cooker, microwave, fridge freezer, washing machine and tumble dryer.
There is a pretty, tranquil little garden... with a table, two chairs and a treehouse, should you wish to try and squeeze inside it! Although it's much beloved of the local cats, so you'd have to fight them for it.
Transport links: I'm a 12 minute walk from Sydenham station, which is on Overground and Rail networks. There is also Penge East, (a 15 minute walk away) which will whizz you to Victoria in 20 mins, or Lower Sydenham (10 minute walk away), gets you to Charing Cross or Cannon St in about 30 mins.
Sydenham is a FANTASTIC area - I've been here 5 and a half years and I love it. Great local shops, plus various supermarkets for convenience, and to keep my waistline trim I go running in nearby Crystal Palace Park, which is very beautiful. Closer to home is Mayow Park, with a gorgeous new cafe serving home made food. And if you're feeling flush there are several nice pubs and eateries.
Ideally I'm after people looking for short term lets. I'm happy to be flexible though, for the right person, so if in doubt, ask.
I tend to keep late hours. I am relatively quiet and tidy, read a lot, and tend to cook a roast on a Sunday, which I would happily share (the ideal candidate would in return go to the shop and buy some wine to go with dinner; my roast potatoes are worth it, let me tell you!).
If interested, or if you have any questions whatsoever then don't hesitate to get in touch. Happy to be flexible over stuff like deposit, references etc - more important to find someone who's a good fit.
Thanks!
